COMMUNITY ORCHARD PROJECT FOR MALMESBURY

Our projects

Our Planet's Voice

Our Planet's Voice is the film of a theatre project, organised in conjunction with Eilmer's EcoKids.  The theatrical work was carried out by the Last Baguette and filmed by Fred Goudie, of FredFilm. See the full film here.
Please fill in our feedback form too.
Find out how we made Our Planet's Voice on the dedicated page, including how-to films.
Thanks to our funders, the Emergence Foundation and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Community Energy Community Fund.

First orchard by the Activity Zone, Malmesbury

In March 2020, with Covid restrictions in place, we gathered a small group of volunteers to plant two pear trees and one apple tree. These were additions to a site already home to two apple trees.  Five fruit trees constitutes an orchard!
Local residents have been kind enough to support us in watering the new trees while they become established.

Collaboration with Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa

We are very grateful and delighted to have been chosen by Whatley Manor Hotel to receive £1 every time a customer opts for a digital gift card. In making this choice, gift-givers will be both supporting the hotel's carbon and waste reduction ambitions and helping Fruitful Malmesbury provide healthy, sustainable food in our community. We wish Whatley Manor great success with this initiative!

Malmesbury Food Map

With our Food Map, we hope to reduce the waste of freshly grown fruit and vegetables and share healthy food.
Please take a look and if you grow your own fruit or vegetables and have some excess, please consider having us add your location to our Food Map. Email us to make an addition to the map.

What next?

Future projects will include planting and maintaining trees and fruit bushes with and for the community, so that everyone can help to grow and take a share of fresh food in the town.

We also plan to run a number of community events. These will include gatherings to collect fruit, redistribute it, harvest and maintain our own trees.

We hope to have an apple-juicing session too, to which you can bring your own fruit and borrow equipment or manpower.

Please check here, our Facebook page or Instagram account for more information.
